‘Do Tell! Diner’ Marked the End of Our Humanist for the Holidays Celebrations
Last Sunday’s Platform marked the end of our “Humanist For The Holidays” celebrations, a three week series of Sunday meetings beginning with “Winter Festival” on December 15, then the Ethical Sing-A-Long on December 22 and culminating with the “Do Tell! Diner” on December 29.

‘Ethical Sing-a-Long’ part of our Humanist for the Holidays Celebration
On December 22, the “Ethical Music Makers” led the morning as we sang through songs suggested by the audience, a diverse selection including traditional holiday songs, songs from the civil rights era and even some pop standards. There was a lot of energy in the room and it was an uplifting morning.

In 1961, Alan Kaufman traveled to Mississippi along with several hundred other students – white and black – who took buses and trains into the South to challenge Jim Crow. They were arrested and sent to jail, in Alan’s case 23 days in Mississippi’s Parchman State Penitentiary, a maximum security facility.
