What is the History of the EC movement? How does that relate to my life?
Third through 5th graders learn to embrace from their ethical heritage those ideas and values which we find have individual meaning, relevance and value and give us a sense of belonging to our ethical community. Students study the history of the ethical culture movement and it’s founders.
Themes covered in this class include:
- the founding of the ethical culture movement,
- 19th century child labor concerns, nursing services, immigration and the labor movement in NYC in the 1850′s.
The service learning project for this group is Blessings in a Backpack where the kids will donate backpacks filled with food and other essentials for families in need living in Paterson.
