The Skills Auction went swimmingly this year, with over 65 partygoers at our Under the Sea festivities on April 28. New elements included a Sunday School children’s party with games, banner-making, and a costume parade. A treasure chest with a prize drawing brought many gasps of astonishment and much laughter.
Donors went all out in the Creativity and Imagination Department for their offerings.
In addition to long-time favorites, new activities and adventures enticed bidders. All live-auction items sold, the sign-ups got a very enthusiastic response, and almost everything in the silent auction sold. We had a record year for family-friendly events, business donations and gift certificates.

The Skills Auction is our primary yearly fundraiser for general expenses, including salaries and activities. To that end, the auction raised approximately $14,000 after accounting for expenses such as decorations, food, catalog printing, and mailing.
A big shout-out to the Skills Auction Committee, who dove head-first into the ocean of tasks necessary for success! Thank you to Committee Chair Mary Matsui and members Linda Bennett, Peter Kelley, Tracey Kelley, Janet Glass, Diana Gross, Ed Gross, Bob Gordon, Aimee Kass, Susan Lesh, David Bland, Shelley Raynault, and Esther Sandrof. Much appreciation also to auctioneers Joe Chuman and Eric Sandhusen, and to pouncers Sarah Glisky, Dan Rosenblum, Susan Lesh, and Ken Karp.
