Bea Gopoian: Through the years, the Skills Auction has been a source of all sorts of adventures and experiences. We went canoeing at a state park, we stayed in people’s vacation homes, even travelling as far as England and Spain while using time–share weeks that were donated. We enjoyed game nights and swim parties and wonderful dinners and excursions to sculpture gardens and the seeing-eye dog training center.
We purchased beautiful craft items – one was a small quilt that we gave as a hospitality gift to a friend who redecorated her entire bedroom around it – another was a beautifully knitted baby bunting.
We also enjoyed having people to our home for dinners and getting to know them better or co-sponsoring an event with friends, most often with the Griffins. In recent years we enjoyed sharing our love of the Bronx Botanical Gardens with members whom we escorted on tours.
