Dear Fellow Member,
It is with great sorrow that I bring you the message that our member of very long standing, Bruno Danese, died last Sunday (Nov. 22).
Bruno, along with his wife, Olga, joined the Bergen Society in the 1950s and contributed to our community in many ways over many years.
Bruno was a metalworker who brought his skills to our Society by serving for a long time as an activist chairman of our Building Committee and our Board of Trustees. He was outspoken on the issues that moved him, always polite, and had an engaging sense of humor. Bruno’s last involvement with the Society was as a member of the Men’s Lunch Group, where he found a sense of camaraderie with others whose membership went back for years. Always strongly committed to gun-violence protection, he was pleased that the Society had picked up the cause when we established a Brady group in Bergen County.
Bruno and Olga had not been actively involved in the Society in recent years, but their contributions to building the Society have been enduring.
Bruno, who was 99, and Olga, now 100, resided for decades in their home in Leonia ,where Bruno peacefully died after a brief operation. They were life partners for more than 70 years.
In addition to Olga, Bruno is survived by their son, Ernie, who lives in California.
No service is planned.
