A memorial service for our longtime and highly esteemed member Alice K. Weissman will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11 am.

Alice, formerly of Fair Lawn, died peacefully in hospice, in the loving care of her daughter, Ann, on August 31 at age 91. Ann provided the following information about her mother: Born in New York city to Rhoda and Jerome Kohn, Alice was a smart, spunky, independent, and progressive woman. She worked as a case manager for the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and was a member of the League of Women Voters.
Alice was an avid swimmer, walker, and enjoyed playing the piano and recorder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam. She is survived by her children, Zachary Weissman (Joanne), Ann Weissman (Vincent Coticelli, Jr.) and grandson Matthew. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County.
Society leader Joe Chuman reports that Alice came from several generations of Ethical Culturists and that she and Sam had joined the Society in the 1950s.
Although distance and illness kept her from coming to the meetinghouse in recent years, Joe said, when she did come—with the help of our members—“she was always very uplifted to be among us and we were always happy to see her.”
