Making the peace pole![/caption]On Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., the children of The Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County will present their Peace Pole to the Society, to the Community, and to the world.
A Peace Pole is a hand-crafted monument that displays the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” on each of its four or six sides, usually in different languages. In addition, this Peace Pole has been personally decorated by each of the students attending the Sunday School of the Society.
There are tens of thousands of Peace Poles in 180 countries all over the world dedicated as monuments to peace. They serve as constant reminders for us to visualize and pray for world peace.
The purpose of planting a Peace Pole in a community is to link with people all over the world who have planted their own Peace Poles in the same spirit of peace.
A special song about peace will be sung by the children at the installation.
The Ethical Culture Society is located at 687 Larch Avenue in Teaneck.
