Our letter of gratitude to climate-change speaker

Oct. 17, 2017

Dear Susan,

Thank you for your three wonderful presentations at the request of the folks at the Ethical Culture Society and in collaboration with Greenfaith.

We were first privileged to hear you present the information you gleaned from the Al Gore Climate Reality Leadership Corps and from your own reserach at the Climate Rally, Bergen and Beyond. This was held on the steps of the County Courthouse in Hackensack, NJ on April 29, 2017 as a sister event to the Climate March in Washington, D.C. According to the Record newspaper, there were 300 in attendance. The event was also covered on Fios1 News TV. Your command of the facts and your passionate delivery inspired us to invite you to speak at the Ethical Culture Society Meetinghouse.

On Sunday, July 16, you addressed our congregation. You adjusted your presentation to the shorter time allotment and provided dynamic visuals to support and dramatize your explanation of climate science and the dire consequences of climate change.

Most recently, you addressed our congregation on Sunday, October 15, 2017. At our request, you highlighted the effect of extreme climate events on the most vulnerable communities, thereby focusing on the effects of sea-level rise, drought and severe storms on communities with more infrastructure, lower sea levels and fewer resources. Your presentation showed much preparation and was very well-received by the attendees.

We are most grateful for your work in this area and your willingness to share important data in order to inform the public. May we all make better choices in our efforts to reverse the direction of climate damage. Thanks to you, I expect that many more people will do just that.

Sincerely,

Janet Glass

Immediate Past President
