Sunday Gathering: Organizing Theory and/or Practice

Using the struggle for a graduate student union at Cornell University as an example,this talk will explore what organizing entails by grappling with the intersections and tensions between the theory and practice–the creeds and deeds–of organizers. Our speaker,Sam Rosenblum, graduate of Ethical Culture Sunday School and PhD candidate in the Department of Government at Cornell University, will further consider the historical relationship between organizing and American democracy and the challenges for organizers in our contemporary moment.
