You’re invited to join Leader Curt Collier for an important talk and three hands-on workshops as our Society establishes a new team to tackle disinformation.
Unrestricted information is key to healthy, ethical communities
For a community to thrive, the free flow of information is crucial. Unfortunately, some individuals have recognized this and are deliberately spreading falsehoods and distorting facts, thus disrupting democratic systems. In today’s world, disinformation and misinformation are spreading at an alarming rate. The end goal of such deceit is often to create discord, undermine trust, and instill fear.
Initiative will fight misinformation
The Ethical Society understands the significance of combating misinformation, which is why we’re establishing a Media Task Force to tackle this issue. The primary purpose of this Task Force is to educate ourselves on how disinformation spreads, often unconsciously, and how to defend against it. Another objective is to build the necessary skills to distinguish facts from fiction. Finally, we hope to collaborate with other organizations that are fighting misinformation worldwide.
