It’s not too late for members to mark their calendars for Saturday afternoon, June 5. We’ll be cramming as much Community Weekend fun as possible into a single day out at Van Saun Park in Teaneck, starting at 12:30 pm. There’ll be games and fellowship for kids and grown-ups alike. Eric Sandhusen will facilitate a Do Tell! circle and Silvia Acosta will oversee an inter-generational scavenger hunt. There’ll be singing, too, also led by Silvia, along with Ron Schwartz. And be sure to bring Frisbees, balls, or any games you like.
As for food, our Social Affairs Committee will provide snacks, drinks, and desserts to go with whatever you choose to feast on for lunch, whether sitting at the picnic tables or in lawn chairs you bring yourself.
For most of us, it has been a long time since we’ve been together in person. So please join us! This is a great opportunity for fist bumps—maybe even hugs—and catching up with members we’ve seen only on Zoom.
Food drive, too: As part of Community Day, the Social Action Committee is collecting food for the Center for Food Action in Englewood. Some of their most-needed items: grocery-store gift cards, canned meat (tuna, chicken, etc.); canned hearty soups; canned vegetables; macaroni and cheese; peanut butter and jelly; tomato sauce; baby formula and diapers sizes 4, 5, and 6; and bar or bottled soap.
In addition, we can accept checks made out to the Center for Food Action.
