Today’s Platform was our Winter Festival which we do every year around the time of the Winter Solstice. It’s always a family event with activities for the kids and followed by a pot-luck lunch. With the theme, “Honor The Child” the Festival was organized this year by members Alan Berger, Diane Koszarski, Silvia Acosta and Eric Sandhusen and we were fortunate in having as our featured performer Jeffrey Friedberg of the band The Bossy Frog.
Our family has been going to the Society’s Winter Festivals since our kids were little and while my and my wife’s families celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah too, the Winter Solstice at Ethical as well as our celebrations at home have special significance. Not a supernatural significance but rather a significance built around family, friends and community in continuity through the years as our kids grow to adulthood.
