On Presidents Day Weekend, Visiting Monuments to Democracy

This Presidents Day weekend, our Family & Friends Circle traveled to Washington, DC, to see some of the iconic monuments to people and principles at the heart of our democracy. They stayed together at the home of Leader Curt Collier’s brother.

Ethical Education Director Samantha Stankiewicz provides the group’s impressive travelogue: We all arrived Friday night and spent Saturday walking around Washington DC. Our 10,000 steps included the White House, the Smithsonian, the Martin Luther Kings, Jr. Memorial, Vietnam and Korean War memorials, and the Lincoln Memorial. At night we came back for dinner, games, movies, and conversation. It was fun time for all and a great blend of travel, history, and community-building. See more photos.

Family & Friends Circle open to all

On most Sundays, our Family & Friends Circle meets from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the meetinghouse. Children ages 8 and older participate in ESTEAM (Ethics in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) activities with Leader Curt Collier, while younger children and their families enjoy Project PEACE (Primary Ethics and Childhood Experiences) activities with Ethical Education Director Samantha Stankiewicz

Family & Friends Circle is open to all, especially to families with youth of any age. Trained facilitators and educators offer a variety of activities for exploring ethical issues as well as opportunities for adventures beyond the Society’s doors for ethical-action activities or learning about the world.
