We Want to Hear from You…Continued!

By Susan Lesh

As you may remember, the chairs and officers who attended the Board and Council retreat last October talked about the state of our Society and thought it was a good idea to find out how our membership felt about their experience at Ethical. A Task Force was formed; an online survey was created and distributed in April. The Task Force looked at the data, pulled some information that will go directly into a report and identified about five topics to be explored in small-group discussions by the membership. Some members were trained in guiding the discussions so specific feedback could be collated with others’ responses and open-ended questions could generate conversational exchanges.

Discussions were held in June and July but the majority will be held in September and October. By now, most members have been contacted to participate in these small-group discussions, or Member Talk Backs. The information gathered at the Talk Back will be anonymous and the general feedback, along with the feedback gathered from the online survey, will be used to generate a report to be presented at the General Membership meeting in November.

I thank everyone for their thoughtful participation in the survey as well as the Talk Back discussions exploring our assessments of and hopes for the future of our Ethical Culture Society.

Susan Lesh is president of the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County.
