Our Society’s newest member, Jamie Lombardi, is an adjunct faculty member of the Philosophy and Religion Department at Bergen Community College, where she aspires to live up to the grand tradition of Socrates by corrupting the youth through introducing them to the tools and methods of philosophy. Jamie is also a mom of two boys, Parker and Liam, neither of whom are sure that philosophy is an appropriate parenting technique. No introduction of Jamie would be complete without mentioning that she is enamored with the philosopher Albert Camus.

Jamie found her way to Ethical Culture through her involvement with the Feminist Freethinkers of the Ethical Culture Society of New York, where she has given talks on Simone de Beauvoir and philosopher Kate Manne’s book, Down Girl. Jamie, who lives in Ridgewood, wanted to find a similar community closer to home that she could share with her children, who are enrolled in our Sunday School. We are very pleased to have Jamie and her children as part of our community.
