Sunday Gathering: Latinas in the Lab

About 19 percent of Americans claim Hispanic heritage, but only 2 percent of scientists are Latinas (only 4 percent are Hispanic males). That percentage drops when you consider the number of Latinas in environmental science. Despite the challenges facing young women of color who want to be scientists, many have succeeded. This morning, environmental scientist Adriana Morocho and marine biologist Tatiana Castro discuss their journeys as they battled cultural and social barriers to complete science degrees and pursue their passions.
