Sunday Gathering: Is America Becoming More Unethical or More Ethical?

September 15 @ 11:00 am12:30 pm

How can we assess whether a nation or its people are becoming more ethical or unethical? While ethics is typically defined as the study of principles guiding human behavior and the reasoning behind moral judgments, we believe it goes beyond theoretical study as we place emphasis on the actions that derive from such deliberations. Hence our emphasis on “deeds before creeds,” says today’s discussion leader, Curt Collier.

Because ethical actions are observable, can they be measured? Over the coming year, the Ethical Society invites all to participate in discussions on how to measure ethics, and we will apply these insights to evaluate whether we live in an ethical nation. These discussions will form the foundation for a broader national conversation, and will serve as an action plan for building a more just, caring, and compassionate world.

This Gathering is at the meetinghouse and on Zoom. The Zoom link will be in the weekly Focus newsletter and may be obtained by emailing [email protected].
