Film Showing: ‘Contradiction: A Question of Faith’

March 4 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Join us for a screening of the documentary  “Contradictions: A Question of Faith,”  by filmmaker Jeremiah Camara. The documentary looks at the saturation of churches in African-American communities co-existing with poverty and powerlessness.

Camara, once a member of a large Black church in Cincinnati, Ohio, his hometown, came to believe that most churches were preaching a message of helplessness, the conviction his film explores.

Watch the trailer.

Suggested donation for the film, $10. Get tickets.

On Sunday, March 5, Jeremiah will discuss the role of religion in both helping and holding back Black Americans in their push for equity and inclusion. His talk, Does the Dominant Culture Have the Right to Criticize?, is part of our five-week speaker series: Is Separation of Church & State Coming to an End? This series, co-sponsored by The Puffin Foundation, is a response to recent attacks on a fundamental, constitutional principle at the heart of American democracy.
