Home Fires Campaign: We need you on our team!

By Janet Glass

The parking lot is shot, the furnace out of steam.
Replacements cost a lot. We need you on our team!

  • Our building is our community’s center, we must have a functioning, welcoming building.
  • As a social-action minded group, we also offer a venue for allied non-profits.
  • To defray maintenance costs, we offer rentals and must keep the building rental-ready.
  • We are also landlords and must meet the needs of our tenant, Rhymes and Reasons, and the many inspections that daycare incurs.

Please take advantage of a new matching fund. Our fund will match you dollar-for-dollar to keep our home fires burning, and more. This building campaign is separate from annual pledging or other fundraisers. We are more than halfway to our goal of $50,000 thanks to our Home Fires angels, who seeded the matching fund before the campaign began.

We recently replaced the furnace and put in a chimney liner. We need to install insulation and resurface the driveway/parking lot, replace the fence and install parking lot lights. The central air that cools all but the main room needed replacement. We hope to hit our goal by the membership meeting on Nov. 18.

You may be hearing from us, so thanks in advance for your help. If you’d like to help and to save us a mailing, you can send or give us a check made out to Ethical Culture with “Home Fires” in the memo.

Thanks to our angels, who helped us anticipate.
We hope that you all will now want to participate!
