Our Leader: Curt Collier

Curt Collier joined our Society as leader in February 2022, after serving for a year as interim leader. Before coming to the Bergen County Society, Curt spent many years as a leader for both the New York and Riverdale-Yonkers Societies. He was also a leader-in-training at the Ethical Culture Society of St. Louis. 

For over 20 years, Curt was the National Youth Programs Director for Groundwork USA, an environmental nonprofit created by the National Park Service and Environmental Protection Agency. In this role, Curt worked to engage the next generation in support of Groundwork’s mission to raise the capacity and collaborative ability of communities to meet their own environmental challenges, overseeing youth development and career programs in 20 states. For his work, Curt received the Centennial Award from the National Park Service, delivered at an event headed by President Obama. 

Curt is currently an Adjunct Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, teaching Ethics. He received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Texas A & M University, a master’s degree in communication disorders from Texas Tech University, certification in counseling from the Post Graduate Center for Mental Health in New York, and has completed course work for a doctorate degree in pastoral counseling from Hebrew Union College.
