Rachel (nee Milligan) grew up in Teaneck and graduated from THS. Dan also grew up in Teaneck, but graduated from Dwight Englewood High School, where his father was an art teacher for many years. Rachel and Dan now live in the Radburn section of Fair Lawn with their daughter, Ella, who attends Sunday School, and their four pets: Harpo (a dog), Matagot (a cat), Henry (a gerbil), and Spike (a hedgehog.) Rachel is a Research Administrator at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, and Dan is an English teacher at Indian Hills High School in Oakland.
Having grown up in Teaneck, Rachel and Dan knew about ECS and decided to check it out when the Jewish congregation they belonged to no longer felt progressive enough. They are very happy to belong to a community that participates enthusiastically and often in social action, and gives them a home for working to make the world a better place. They are especially happy to bring Ella to a community that supports and reinforces their progressive values.
Rachel and Dan describe themselves as giant nerds who seem to get nerdier with every passing year. They enjoy Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and Firefly. They play hobby board games. Dan enjoys video games while Rachel does crafts (mostly knitting and cross stitch) and both keep blogs.
We welcome Rachel, Dan and Ella. May they live long and prosper.
